Thank you for choosing Furnishings by Debi. Our goal is to achieve a strong resale value for your items while maintaining an attractive, constantly changing showroom and healthy inventory turnover.

By consigning merchandise with Furnishings by Debi, the Consignor agrees to the following Standard Consignment Terms.

Consignment Commission

Furnishings by Debi operates on a 50/50 consignment split.

The Consignor receives 50% of the final merchandise selling price, and Furnishings by Debi receives 50% of the final merchandise selling price.

The Consignor’s proceeds are calculated from the actual selling price after any authorized discounts, markdowns, refunds, credits, or adjustments.

Sales tax, delivery charges, moving charges, installation charges, shipping charges, and separately stated services are not included in the sale price used to calculate the 50/50 split.

Processing & Payment Fees

  • Credit-card sales: A processing fee equal to 3.3% of the total merchandise selling price is deducted from the Consignor’s proceeds.
  • Cash or check sales: No 3.3% card-processing deduction applies.
  • Printed checks: A $1.75 check-print fee applies to each printed Consignor check.
  • Replacement checks: Lost, stolen, or damaged checks may be reissued for a $30 fee.
  • Checks dated more than one year earlier will not be reissued.

Transportation, pickup, delivery, loading, unloading, installation, cleaning, repair, storage, disposal, and similar services are not included in the consignment commission and may be charged separately when applicable.

120-Day Consignment Term

The standard consignment period is 120 days per item, beginning on the date the merchandise is received and entered into Furnishings by Debi inventory.

During the consignment term, Furnishings by Debi has the exclusive right to display, advertise, market, negotiate, and sell the merchandise.

Furnishings by Debi may choose to extend the consignment period for merchandise we believe should remain available for sale. Extensions are made at our discretion and do not guarantee continued showroom placement or pricing.

Pricing

Furnishings by Debi establishes the initial listing price based on factors including:

  • Brand or maker
  • Condition
  • Age
  • Current resale value
  • Comparable sales
  • Original retail value when relevant
  • Local demand
  • Style and desirability
  • Expected selling timeframe

Listing prices are resale estimates and are not appraisals or guarantees of the amount an item will ultimately sell for.

Furnishings by Debi retains control over showroom placement, merchandising, photography, descriptions, advertising, online listings, and overall sales strategy.

Offers & Markdown Schedule

To help merchandise sell within a reasonable timeframe, the Consignor authorizes Furnishings by Debi to negotiate and adjust pricing without additional approval within the following limits:

Days 1–29

Furnishings by Debi may accept an offer up to 10% below the original listing price.

Beginning Day 30

Furnishings by Debi may reduce the price or accept offers up to 20% below the original listing price.

Beginning Day 60

Furnishings by Debi may reduce the price or accept offers up to 30% below the original listing price.

Beginning Day 90

Furnishings by Debi may reduce the price or accept offers up to 40% below the original listing price during the final phase of the standard consignment term.

These percentages represent the maximum authorized reduction from the item's original listing price.

Furnishings by Debi is not required to automatically markdown an item simply because it reaches a particular date. If an item is receiving strong interest, we may maintain the current price.

We may accept any reasonable offer within the authorized discount range without contacting the Consignor.

Offers requiring a discount greater than the authorized amount may be presented to the Consignor for approval.

Consignor Payouts

Consignor proceeds are paid on Furnishings by Debi’s monthly payout cycle.

Sales completed during a calendar month will generally be paid between the 15th and 25th of the following month, provided:

  • The buyer’s payment has cleared;
  • The transaction is considered final;
  • There is no pending return, chargeback, dispute, refund, or payment issue.

Example: Merchandise sold during August will generally be paid between September 15 and September 25.

Furnishings by Debi may temporarily withhold proceeds associated with unresolved returns, disputes, chargebacks, refunds, or other transaction adjustments.

If a transaction is reversed after Consignor proceeds have already been paid, Furnishings by Debi may deduct the overpayment from future Consignor proceeds or request repayment.

Customer Returns, Refunds & Adjustments

Furnishings by Debi may reasonably resolve customer service issues involving consigned merchandise.

This may include a refund, partial refund, repair allowance, store credit, price adjustment, or cancellation when appropriate.

Consignor proceeds are based on the final amount retained by Furnishings by Debi for the merchandise.

No Consignor proceeds are earned on a transaction that is canceled, fully refunded, charged back, fraudulent, or otherwise not collected.

Early Removal

Consigned merchandise is committed to Furnishings by Debi for the full 120-day consignment term.

If the Consignor requests the return of an item before the end of the term, an early-removal fee equal to 20% of the item's original listing price will apply.

The early-removal fee must be paid before the merchandise is released.

Removal must be scheduled in advance and cannot interfere with an existing customer hold, deposit, pending sale, completed sale, or delivery arrangement.

The Consignor is responsible for pickup and transportation.

End of the Consignment Period

At the end of the 120-day consignment term, Furnishings by Debi may:

  • Extend the consignment period;
  • Continue marketing the item at an adjusted price;
  • Request that the Consignor retrieve the merchandise;
  • Recommend additional clearance pricing;
  • Arrange donation or disposal when authorized or otherwise permitted by applicable law.

If Furnishings by Debi requests removal, the Consignor must arrange pickup within 7 calendar days of notice, unless another arrangement has been approved.

Merchandise remaining after the required pickup period may be subject to storage, moving, handling, disposal, donation, or other applicable charges or disposition as permitted by law.

The Consignor is responsible for keeping current telephone, email, mailing, and payment information on file with Furnishings by Debi.

Condition & Acceptance

All merchandise is accepted at the discretion of Furnishings by Debi.

We may decline or remove merchandise from inventory if:

  • Its condition differs materially from what was represented;
  • Authenticity cannot reasonably be verified;
  • Construction or stability creates a safety concern;
  • Odor, staining, water damage, pest activity, or other condition becomes apparent;
  • The item does not meet our showroom standards;
  • The item's marketability is substantially different than originally expected.

The Consignor is responsible for disclosing all known damage, repairs, alterations, stains, odors, missing components, pest activity, authenticity concerns, or other material issues.

If previously undisclosed or newly discovered condition issues affect an item's market value, Furnishings by Debi may adjust the selling price accordingly.

Ownership & Authenticity

By consigning merchandise with Furnishings by Debi, the Consignor represents that they legally own the merchandise or have full authority from the legal owner to sell it.

Consigned merchandise must be free from liens, ownership disputes, leases, security interests, or competing ownership claims.

Any information provided regarding the maker, designer, artist, materials, age, provenance, authenticity, or history of an item must be accurate to the best of the Consignor's knowledge.

Furnishings by Debi may request documentation supporting ownership, authenticity, or provenance when appropriate.

Risk of Loss & Damage

Consigned merchandise remains the property of the Consignor until sold.

Furnishings by Debi will exercise reasonable care in displaying, storing, and handling merchandise but is not an insurer of consigned property.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Furnishings by Debi is not responsible for loss or damage resulting from theft, fire, water, weather, fading, pests, customer activity, ordinary showroom handling, storage, accidental damage, or other casualty.

Consignors should maintain any insurance they believe appropriate for their property during the consignment period.

Pickup, Delivery & Additional Services

Pickup, moving, transportation, delivery, loading, unloading, assembly, installation, cleaning, repair, storage, disposal, and similar services are separate from the consignment commission unless specifically stated otherwise.

Services provided or arranged by Furnishings by Debi may be billed separately or deducted from Consignor proceeds when authorized.

Unless otherwise agreed, the Consignor is responsible for the cost of transporting merchandise to Furnishings by Debi and for retrieving unsold merchandise.

Photography & Marketing

The Consignor authorizes Furnishings by Debi to photograph, video, describe, advertise, and promote consigned merchandise through appropriate sales and marketing channels, including:

  • Our Kailua-Kona showroom
  • Furnishings by Debi website
  • Social media
  • Email marketing
  • Online marketplaces
  • Third-party resale platforms
  • Private client outreach
  • Print and digital advertising

Photographs, videos, descriptions, and other marketing materials created by Furnishings by Debi remain the property of Furnishings by Debi.

No Guarantee of Sale

Our goal is to achieve the best reasonable resale value while maintaining healthy inventory turnover.

Consignment does not guarantee that an item will sell, the timeframe in which it will sell, or the amount for which it will ultimately sell.

Market conditions, condition, style, size, brand, demand, and customer interest all affect resale value.

By leaving merchandise with Furnishings by Debi for consignment, the Consignor acknowledges and agrees that the merchandise is subject to these Standard Consignment Terms.
